This was my experience with Iyengar yoga and the reason I never went after certification. Yoga that was taught is amazing in so many ways, but the community is one that is unsupportive, competitive and sometimes just downright mean!
It is too bad that such a great system has turned into a negative “club” that punishes those that they don’t like. Yoga is a wonderful and grand journey for all of us, and the tools available from Iyengar are so valuable. We are fortunate to have access to these tools, and can choose to create our own communities to support and sustain us.
